Flank steak is a lean, inexpensive but deeply flavoured cut of beef. When cooking flank steak it is important to marinate it, make sure you cut it across the grain, and don’t cook beyond medium rare.
Flank steak is my favorite cut of meat for the grill, and this is my new favorite flank steak marinade recipe because it is so easy and the ingredients are always in the house. It really does turn out the most tender steak.
If you are having trouble finding flank steak in your grocery store it also goes by the name london broil and is commonly found pre-cut as stir-fry or fajita meat.
(serves 2)
1/2 flank steak
3T soy sauce
2T balsamic vinegar
2 cloves garlic, lightly crushed (not minced)
2T vegetable oil
1/2t freshly ground black pepper
pinch salt
Combine everything but the flank steak, then add the steak and marinate at least a few hours. Remove from the marinade and pat dry. Preheat and oil your grill. Dust the flank steak with a little salt and pepper and grill until medium rare. Let sit for 5 minutes and slice across the grain.

What a beautiful steak!
Meat is the hardest thing in the world to get a good photo, but this does look delicious! Love the idea of soy sauce and balsamic vinegar combined in a marinade. Sounds delicious, and thanks for mentioning my recipe.
