I am a big bread and cheese person. I can easily eat through an entire cheese plate and baguette and save no room for dinner. But generally crackers are totally forgettable to me, I will usually pass them up entirely for some crusty soudough or a chunk of olive bread.
But, these crackers. I really, really like these crackers. I have had Lesley Stowe’s Raincoast Crisps once or twice in passing and never really thought them anything special, but they are really popular in Vancouver so when they offered to send me two boxes of their new flavour – cinnamon raisin, I accepted.
The crackers or crisps are really thin, leaving a high cheese to carb ratio but they have a strong enough flavour to give something to your pairing of choice. J and I had them with Cambozola and some nice red wine. The sweetness of the raisins was delicious with the sharpness of the blue cheese. I found the cinnamon was very subtle and not at all overpowering.
I think one of the reasons I liked them is just how crunchy they are. Besides the raisins they have flax seeds, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds and oats to give a nice crunch. They are also a nice snack just on their own, but are great to keep in the cupboard for some quick entertaining. I highly recommend the crackers. Check out the website, but they are available all over Canada and in Whole Foods in some states.
