Shrimp in White Wine and Garlic Butter Recipe

Shrimp sauteed in garlic butter is really easy to make and guaranteed to please a crowd. When my local fisherman showed up again I knew I wanted to do another simple shrimp preparation to enhance the delicate sweet flavour of the fresh seafood.

Prawns in White Wine and Garlic Butter

If your shrimp or prawns are already cleaned and shelled you can throw this together in less than ten minutes, serve with crusty bread and a simple salad and you have a delicious easy meal.  For a variation try adding some crushed red chili flakes when you add the garlic. Delicious.

If you want to make it more of a meal, try making a fresh pasta sauce, similar to my shrimp and white wine pasta sauce with fresh tomatoes and leeks.

Add garlic and saute until lightly browned add shrimps and saute for 1-2 minutes per side depending on size of shrimp. Add white wine and simmer for one more minute. Stir in parsley and some salt and pepper. Remove from heat and serve with crusty french bread.

  1. Thanks for the recipe. It would be great on top of pasta. If I have time I may do it this Wednesday but I'll have to buy white wine. It's my boyfriend's birthday on Wednesday and I know he would like that. :)

  2. That sounds like a great occasion to open a little white wine!

There is nothing better than shrimp (or prawns as we call 'em, wine and butter. Mmm, wish I had a fisherman to bring me home some!

Oooh, this looks awesome! I want to make it right now, except I don't have any white wine. What's a good white wine for this recipe? I'm totally clueless when it comes to wine. :)

  9. Elizabeth – I am also fairly clueless but in this case I used a Pinot Grigio, a Sauvignon Blanc would also be nice I am sure.

Hungry Dog, Chocolate Shavings, Rasa – thanks I hope you try it!
