Cookbook Giveaway

by katerina on July 13, 2010

The nice people at Snubbr have offered to sponsor a cookbook giveaway for you guys! Because Snubbr is a site that offers buying advice I thought a cookbook giveaway that you guys choose would be pretty cool.

Here is how this works, leave a comment telling us your must-have cookbook. New to cooking? Leave a comment selecting what cookbook you want instead. The winner can pick any of the cookbooks recommended by readers or requested themselves (up to a $35 value).

Need some ideas? Check out my post on recommended cookbooks.

Here is how to enter. You have to do #1. But #2-4 will get you bonus entries! Please note, each comment will only count once!

1. Leave a comment recommending a cookbook.
2. Become a fan of Daily Unadventures in Cooking on Facebook (and comment telling me about it)
3. Subscribe to receive new recipes by email (and comment telling me about it)
4. Tweet about this contest (and comment telling me about it)

This contest will be open until Friday July 23rd at 6pm PST.

Joanne July 13, 2010 at 5:47 AM

My absolute favorite cookbook is Bon Appetit’s Fast/Easy/Fresh. I’ve never made a bad recipe from it!

Brittany July 13, 2010 at 6:06 AM

I’ve been seeing The Berry Bible all over recently – it would be a perfect summer cookbook!

Julia C July 13, 2010 at 7:57 AM

Any of Sara Foster’s cookbooks!

Christine July 13, 2010 at 8:52 AM

Anything by America’s Test Kitchen.

TMC July 13, 2010 at 8:54 AM

My favorite cookbook is Authentic Mexican: Regional Cooking from the Heart of Mexico by Chef Rick Bayless. I’ve checked it out from the library many, many times. To have my own copy would be amazing.

Without a doubt it’s Heidi Swanson’s Super Natural Cooking: Five Delicious Ways to Incorporate Whole and Natural Foods into Your Cooking
http://amzn.to/d9GS4U
This book is absolutely gorgeous. It has a really satisfying heft and page-feel that makes me feel like it’s been passed down for generations. It’s full of incredible recipes using whole, natural foods, paired for beautiful photos, and pages full of quick-to-read information on fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, empowering the reader to try her own recipes, too.

Laurie | Your Ill-fitting Overcoat July 13, 2010 at 9:19 AM

I tweeted the contest, too. :)

Alton Brown’s books are our standbys. Everything in them is reliably informative, disaster-resistant, and delicious.

I already get your emailed recipes, does that count for another chance to win?

Laurie | Your Ill-fitting Overcoat July 13, 2010 at 9:41 AM

Aaaaaaaaand I liked you on Facebook!

Laurie | Your Ill-fitting Overcoat July 13, 2010 at 9:41 AM

And subscribed to your email list. :) So excited!

It seems this is where Snubbr’s services would come in handy for me! I usually just stick to finding recipes through tastespotting and foodgawker. Which is how I found this blog… which I immediately determined I needed to subscribe to via RSS feed!
I have had my eye on the Pioneer Woman’s cookbooks, but I haven’t gotten around to picking one up yet.

Jenny July 13, 2010 at 10:25 AM

I “like”d you on Facebook!

Julie (Bananas for Bourbon) July 13, 2010 at 10:38 AM

Anything by Alton Brown or Ina Garten, though I am dying to check out the Pioneer Woman’s cookbook!

Amanda July 13, 2010 at 10:40 AM

Love Jamie Oliver, and his magazine is a favorite too. My go to cookbook for delicious funky healthy fun is Rebar Modern Food, with some Vancouver Island twists.

The flavor bible!

Andy July 13, 2010 at 11:49 AM

Not really a cookbook, but “On Food and Cooking” by Harold McGee is a favorite of mine, but that is because I am a science and history wonk.
Along the same lines I like Alton Brown’s cookbooks because he gives you the “why” along with the “how.”

This is on my wish list. Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World: 75 Dairy-Free Recipes for Cupcakes that Rule by Isa Chandra Moskowitz & Terry Hope Romero.I haven’t tried any of the recipes yet, but would like to. My sister is allergic to eggs and it would be so fun to make her cupcakes she could actually eat.

Cheryl July 13, 2010 at 12:01 PM

My favorite cookbook that I would like to own is “The Southern Italian Table
by Arthur Schwartz” which features my favorite Italian cuisine anytime.

My favorite cookbook hands down is Fresh Food Fast. I cook one or two things from it every week. Not only are the recipes easy and delicious, they are also accompanied by gorgeous photos that really inspire to cook.

Jenni July 13, 2010 at 12:15 PM

OH, sorry, wrong title! It’s Everyday Food: Great Food Fast. Love it.

Heather B July 13, 2010 at 12:15 PM

I also receive your daily emails!

Amy July 13, 2010 at 5:01 PM

I <3 the Betty Crocker Cookbook. If we do not know how to cook something the phrase in our house is "let's ask Betty." Betty is great for telling you how to cook all the basics, even down to how to make hard boiled eggs! An absolute must for all cooks :D

Dani H July 13, 2010 at 6:02 PM

“The Joy of Cooking” is a great go-to cookbook for techniques. Martha Stewart cookbooks are excellent, too. “Field Guide to Cookies” and “Field Guide to Candy” have an amazing number of recipes packed into tiny cookbooks. Thanks for a chance at the giveaway.

Dani H July 13, 2010 at 6:03 PM

I’ve been dying to try the famous “Veganomicon.” Everybody seems to have great things to say about this cookbook. I figure that any cookbook that is referred to as a vegan’s bible would be halfway decent though :D

jacquie July 13, 2010 at 8:48 PM

the basic 1st cookbook from mollie katzen & the moosewood collective
